WATCH: Iga Swiatek receives racquet abuse warning as she slams in angry frustration against Anna Kalinskaya in Dubai

Anna Kalinskaya has done the unthinkable by defeating Iga Swiatek in straight sets in the semifinal of the 2024 Dubai Open. With this, she has reached the final of the tournament. The final of the Dubai Open will see Jasmine Paolini and Anna Kalinskaya fight it out for the trophy, which is a matchup that nobody had expected to see in the final. 

The Russian pulled off an incredible comeback in her match against the World No. 1 and the Pole was visibly frustrated by that. In fact, Kalinskaya was 4-2 down and ended up winning six straight sets from there. Out of anger, Iga Swiatek slammed her racket on the court and broke it, receiving a racket abuse warning in the process. It was a match that Swiatek should have won pretty easily but she fumbled it. 

However, praise needs to be given to Anna Kalinskaya, who is simply on fire. She defeated Coco Gauff in the quarterfinal of the tournament, just in her last match and has now defeated Iga Swiatek. Thus, she is now hands down the favorite to win the 2024 Dubai Open, having defeated the two biggest contenders for the title. 

Talking about the match between her and Iga Swiatek, Kalinskaya won the match 6-4, 6-4 in straight sets. Considering that she was losing the first set at one point, this victory automatically became even more massive and a bigger achievement. 

Anna Kalinskaya is set to face Jasmine Paolini in the final of the 2024 Dubai Open 

Anna Kalinskaya will face Italy’s Jasmine Paolini in the final of the 2024 Dubai Open. Unlike Anna Kalinskaya, Jasmine Paolini’s road to the final has been fairly easy. She had to defeat Leylah Fernandez and Maria Sakkari, but her toughest opponent, i.e., Elena Rybakina, gave her a walkover, which took the Italian directly to the semifinal, where she met Sorana Cirstea. After a thrilling tiebreak in the second set, Paolini finally defeated her. 

Jasmine Paolini and Anna Kalinskaya have played a total of two matches against each other so far. Both of them have won one match each.

Thus, their faceoff in the final of the 2024 Dubai Open is set to be thrilling. They locked horns pretty recently in the 2024 Australian Open, though. In that match, Kalinskaya emerged victorious and she is expected to repeat it again in the final.
