World number 1 Iga Swiatek recently had to withdraw from the Madrid Open. She had her shoulder injured but due to a tight schedule, she was not able to give time for the injury to heal. Even with the injury, she won consecutive titles during her brilliant run when she won the Qatar Open, Indian Wells Open, Miami Open and Stuttgart Open. She was on a 23-game win streak before the injury.

Announcing her withdrawal, Iga said, “After intense last weeks and winning four titles in a row, it’s time to take care of my arm that has been fatigued since the Miami Open and I haven’t had a chance to handle it properly. I need a break from playing so intensively in order to treat my arm well and that’s why, unfortunately, I have to withdraw from the Mutua Madrid Open.

Recently the WTA posted a tweet on Twitter of Iga’s Instagram story. In the tweet, we can see Iga drinking a coffee with the Nadal logo on the coffee and tagged Rafael Nadal in the post. Iga is a very big fan of the King of Clay and it was just another fangirl moment for the Pole. The sign on the coffee shows Nadal’s ‘raging bull’ symbol which has become a trademark of the Spaniard and is spotted on all his kits.

In her past interviews, she said that the one thing she likes about Nadal is that the 21-time grand slam winner will never stop believing in himself and his ability and Iga got to see it live from the stands recently. Nadal was facing Daniil Medvedev in the 2022 Australian Open finals and was 2 sets down everyone thought this was game over for him but he continued to believe in himself and won the match against Medvedev. Iga watched this match from the stands and every time the camera shifted to her one could see the youngster surprised.
