World No. 1 Iga Swiatek has been the source of attraction for a long time over the past few months for her incredible performances. She has last been gathering praises all through these recent months after managing to win most of the competitions she has participated in. She has recently won the Poland Open and is in good spirits as she looks to wrap up the Canadian Open with her first match set to take place on Wednesday.

It marked Iga’s fourth title so far this year. She was under a lot of pressure after bowing out of the recently played Wimbledon Championships in the quarter-finals. In her return to action this week at the Montreal Open, she will face Karolina Pliskova in the first round. The main court of the Canadian Open, which was formerly known as Du Maurier Stadium and Uniprix Stadium, had been changed to “Stade IGA” or the IGA Stadium.

The name was changed way back in 2018 after a supermarket in Quebec. In her recent pre-match conference, she was asked about this, she said, “Well, having the stadium named after me, huge privilege. Let’s pretend that’s the story. No, but it’s just a nice coincidence, so yeah, it’s fun. I feel more happy when I see that it’s ‘Iga Stadium’ so it’s nice. They should do this more often.”

At the upcoming Canadian Open, she is again going into the competition as the first seed along with Aryna Sabalenka as the second and Elena Rybakina as the third seed.

Along with her recent success at her home tournament, Poland Open, she also went on to win Roland Garros beating Karolina Muchova, the Stuttgart Open beating Sabalenka, and the Qatar Open beating Jessica Pegula. Apart from this, she also made it to the semis of the Dubai Tennis Championships, Indian Wells Masters, and the Bad Homburg Open, losing to Barbora Krejcikova, Rybakina, and Lucia Bronzetti.
