Iga Swiatek, the Polish great, has been at the top of the women’s ranking table over the last couple of years. She entered the 2024 Australian Open as World No. 1 and did not live up to her ranking.
Facing an early exit in the third round, she lost to Linda Noskova in three sets. Despite clinching the first set with ease, the 22-year-old did not capitalize on her shots and eventually lost in the third set.
This was another major upset of the tournament, as Iga walked out of the stadium disappointed. Letting this not affect her game, Swiatek is back on the road, training for the future.
Recently, she posted a picture on her Instagram story of her training in an indoor court. After a terrible run, World No. 1 is back in business as she looks to improve in the next tournament. Despite never having the best start of the year, Swiatek has improved over the months and ended with a bang. With the intent to do the same, she resumes her work on the court.

After a disappointing exit from the Australian Open, it was only the Aryna Sabalenka show from then on. Continuing her straight-set victory, the Belarusian managed to enter the finals and even win the Australian Open for the second time.
Playing the young Qinwen Zheng in her second Australian Open final, she continued her dominant run. Winning again in straight sets, she recorded history. With that win, the Belarusian joined a list of legends to have won a Grand Slam back-to-back. To celebrate this victory, Swiatek tweeted a text of gratitude for her rival.

Her kind words resonated with the many fans who also posted many heartfelt messages for the Australian Open winner. Sabalenka replied to the tweet thanking her rival.
With both players fighting each other for the No. 1 spot, Swiatek would have earned it back, as Sabalenka might have gotten back to the top. With Roland Garros as the next Grand Slam, the women will try to reach new ranks before the clay court championships and continue that form for the rest of the year.
