Iga Swiatek, the world number one had been riding on a high post her triumph at the US Open where she clinched her third Grand Slam singles title and her maiden US Open title after having a incredible clay court season where she clinched six titles including the French Open title. But received a major upset when she lost in the finals of the Ostrava Open to Barbora Krejcikova in 3hours and 15 minutes of play that ended her 9-match winning streak since US Open.
Swiatek during the on-court interview, she got quite emotional and stated about donating all her prize money from Ostrava Open towards mental helath initiatives by a Polish non-profitable organization. She expressed her feelings and even took the time to thank the poeple who had come out in his support. She wanted people to put the prize money into the right use for a powerful cause.
She said “I really wanted to play well here to have a big amount of money to donate. I’m pretty happy that I could do that. I really want to spread awareness. I want people to know they can use the help when they need it or help others if they have the resources.“
This is the second instance when Iga Swiatek donated the prize money in charity for mental heath initiatives

This is not the first time Swiatek is donating all her prize money for a good cause. The last time she had donated her prize money was at the BNP Paribas Open where she had donated the money for a mental health charity in order to observe Mental Health Day that is celebrated on the 10th of October every year.
She had been very upfront about dealing with her own challenges and difficulties after she became the becoming the World No 1 which adds an undue pressure especially after having a great clay court season that adds expectations of people and it becomes quite a difficult task to deal with such issues. She had said “The fact that Ash decided to end his career, I was No. 2 for less than a week, and then in one day I became No. 1, only meant that I had to quickly find myself in a new, incredibly demanding situation.“
Swiatek has already won two Grand Slam singles titles at the French Open and at the US Open and still continues to prove her dominance in such short time since she made her debut. She was on a 37-match winning streak but that ended with her loss in the third round at the Wimbledon to Alize Cornet.
