“I’m not planning to stop,” Petra Kvitova quashes retirement rumors after her shutdown from the US Open

The Czech tennis professional, Petra Kvitova, had rumors around her circling regarding retirement plans post US Open 2022, earlier today quashed all the rumors by affirmingly quoting her position.
Returning to her form after 2020 and following a runners-up title at the Southern & Western Open, this season has proved itself quite blooming for the 28-year-old’s tour which unfortunately has now ended with the Czech having played her last Slam of the year and ousting from the round of 16 at the Flushing championship earlier this week, bowing against Jessica Pegula with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

Petra Kvitova, who was last seen in action with her rhythmic explosive performance at the Cincinnati Masters, got away with a runners-up title before playing the ongoing US Open, in which she has been sent packing by No. 8 seed, Jessica Pegula with a score of 6-3, 6-2 under the roof of Arthur Ashe Stadium.
In a press conference after her match, the Czech described her insight for the season and Slam after witnessing her performance in full swing after the Covid-19 pandemic saying “Not only here, but in Cincinnati, I think I played a very good game. Here, beating Garbiñe from two match points down was a big fight.”
Speculating rumors running wild amongst fans and the global tennis community, Petra when asked regarding the same shut those rumors down quoting “Ah, that’s the question. Interesting, you should ask normally then. I’m not planning to stop. I’m still here, playing tennis, getting ready the same as before, so, I don’t think this changes in a good or bad way.”
Kvitova recently made a jump in the headlines when she announced her engagement with long-time coach Jiri Vanek, who has had an overall positive run this season. She reached her first Grand Slam second week on the grass courts of Wimbledon after her previous performance-inducing appearance at Roland Garros 2020.
Debating on her run dismissed at the New York courts, she quoted “Of course, I lost today, but overall, it was probably two really very good weeks in my season. Eastbourne was the best one, so I’m pleased with that.”
