Rafael Nadal: ‘I don’t know if I’m the right person to coach a player’

After discussing the notion of talent in the excellent interview for the airline Iberia centred around his academy in Manacor, Nadal was asked about his post-career and the possibility of one day becoming a coach. A hypothesis for the moment to be excluded according to the Spanish champion.
“I am sure that one day I will be a former elite athlete, but I will always be a sportsman, because sport is my passion and I will practice it for as long as my body allows me. And I will always be involved in the Academy, which is a project that we started a few years ago and which is gaining momentum.
“I even hope to be able to devote more time to it than today, because I continue to participate in competitions and to travel all over the world. In the Academy there are players of all kinds and I hope that a future tennis star is already among us. I don’t know if I’m the ideal person to coach a player… For now, I don’t think so, although, as the saying goes, you should never say that I won’t drink this water,” said Nadal.
Many athletes believe that they cannot become good coaches which is true as we have seen many players fail as coaches in different sports, The same goes with Nadal who also thinks that he cannot become a good coach.
