Carlos Alcaraz is a professional tennis player who hails from Spain. He is currently ranked at no. 5 in singles by ATP which he has achieved after a stunning run to the final in the Hamburg Open. Alcaraz has won five ATP Tour singles titles, including two Masters 1000 titles, and produced his best Grand Slam performances at the 2021 US Open and 2022 French Open by reaching the quarterfinals.
The Spaniard played very well in the Hamburg Open, and reached the final but had to finish as a runner-up after losing out to the Italian, Lorenzo Musetti. Lorenzo won the first set and made it clear that the Spaniard will have to fight hard for the trophy. Somehow Alcaraz did fight hard in the second set and made a comeback by winning the set in a tiebreaker but it wasn’t his day as he lost in the third set by 4-6.
Carlos Alcaraz is eyeing the No.1 spot in the ATP rankings

The 19-year-old has already won four titles this year which are Rio Open, Miami Open, Barcelona Open, and Madrid Open, and was also close to the fifth one but missed out on a close margin. Alcaraz began this season at World No. 32 but has quickly risen towards the top of the rankings. Alcaraz, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic are the only three players this millennium who reached top-5 as teens. 19-year-old Alcaraz and 36-year-old Nadal are currently tied in the list of most ATP titles this year, having won four titles each.
The Spanish wonder kid made history on Monday when he soared to No. 5 in the ATP Rankings, becoming the second-youngest player in the 21st century to breach the top five. After the win, Carlos Alcaraz clearly said that he wants to sit at the top of the rankings after getting into the top 5s.
Here’s what he said,“It means a lot. The hard work that I put in every day for reaching my dreams, [No.] 1, and little by little I’m reaching my dream,” Alcaraz said. “Top five for me is pretty amazing and I will keep going to be [No.] 1.”
