“Totally lost for words!” Tennis Twitter blasts the USTA as Novak Djokovic’s name is removed from the entry list of the US Open before the player’s official withdrawal
Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian is undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis players of all time, the Serb has 21 Grand Slam titles to his name which puts him in an elite company of players and cements his position as one of the all-time greats of the sport. Novak Djokovic sits in the elite company of Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer as the Serb has been going toe-to-toe with those for years now.
Djokovic hasn’t had a good time ever since the start of the pandemic, despite winning numerous titles, the Serbian’s problems start at his stance regarding the Covid-19 vaccine. Djokovic decided against getting vaccinated for the virus due to which he has missed out on a lot of tournaments over the past months.
Novak Djokovic’s name is removed from the US Open entry list
Things get from bad to worse for Novak Djokovic as the Serbian’s name has been removed from the entry list of the US Open. His name was present on the list at the start but has now been removed before he handed in his official withdrawal from the tournament. Djokovic missed out on the Australian Open earlier this year and now he is set to miss the US Open as well.
Fans took to Twitter to outrage against the Wimbledon champion’s name being removed from the list before he even handed his withdrawal in from the tournament. Fans blasted the USTA and blamed the organization for being corrupt and for having a bias against Novak Djokovic.
A tennis blogger posted it on Twitter and wrote, “So the US Open, Stacey Allaster has now removed Djokovic name from the list of players at the USO even before Novak has actually even withdrawn from the event. It’s almost like they knew beforehand that he wasn’t playing. You can’t get much more blatant corruption than this.“
With the CDC revising its guidelines once again, there are little to no chances now that Novak Djokovic will participate at this year’s US Open.
