Naomi Osaka, the 24-year-old Japanese professional is one of the most influential players of this generation. Just being 24 she already has 4 Grand Slam titles to her name, this season has been underwhelming for the Japanese star, this is the first year that Osaka has gone without winning a Grand Slam title since beating Serena Williams in 2018.
Recently having competed at the Cincinnati Open, Naomi Osaka put in yet another disappointing performance as she bowed out of the tournament in the first round at the hands of Shuai Zhang in straight sets, the Japanese professional was eliminated in the first round of the Canadian Open.
Naomi Osaka shows interest in playing mixed doubles at the US Open
After bowing out of the Cincinnati Open in the first round yet again, Naomi Osaka took to Twitter to express her desire to compete in the mixed doubles category at this year’s US Open. The Japanese professional has 4 Grand Slam titles to her name and has also competed in the women’s doubles category but has never taken part in the mixed doubles category before in her career.
Osaka took to Twitter and made a tweet saying, “I kinda want to play mixed doubles in US Open cause I’ve never played a full match in my life but I’m also very afraid of letting my partner down,” fans took notice of her tweet and started encouraging the Japanese to take part in the mixed doubles category at the final major tournament of this season.
Osaka was expected to be in the mixed doubles category at this year’s Wimbledon but she had to pull out of the tournament due to an injury, fans suggested Nick Kyrgios as the partner for Osaka if she does decide to participate in the mixed doubles category. Kyrgios would be an interesting partner for Osaka as the Australian professional is super popular for his antics on the court as he is regularly seen getting into arguments of all sorts.
