Reigning US Open champion Coco Gauff has made it to the 2024 Indian Wells Open quarterfinal. The 19-year-old has been phenomenal so far in the Masters tournament. Although she was challenged by Clara Burel in the second-round match, Gauff has managed to tackle her opponents with ease.

In the fourth round, the American defeated Elise Mertens in straight sets to set up a clash with Yuan Yue of China. The 25-year-old Chinese has done a terrific job to reach the quarterfinal. Yuan upset Russian ace Daria Kasatkina in the fourth round to reach the last eight.

Yuan started her campaign with a win over Varvara Gracheva in straight sets. She then took down Australian Open finalist Qinwen Zheng in the second round.

Yuan shocked the eighth-seed in straight sets as the 25-year-old won the match 6-4, 6-3. In the third round, the Chinese player beat Caroline Doelhide despite trailing 0-1 after the end of the first set. She repeated the same feat with Kasatkina in the pre-quarterfinals as she beat the Russian star 4-6, 6-4, 6-3. Now, the 25-year-old will meet Gauff in the quarterfinal.
