Beatriz Haddad Maia’s dream Wimbledon campaign ended in tragedy when she was forced to withdraw from her fourth-round match against Elena Rybakina due to an injury. The Brazilian tennis player, who recently reached a career-high ranking of No. 10, had been in great form leading up to the match, reaching her first-ever fourth round at Wimbledon. Unfortunately, her aspirations of taking on the incumbent champion were crushed when she sustained a crippling injury during the match.

Haddad Maia winced in agony when hitting a backhand shot in the opening set. Concerned about her condition, she requested a physiotherapist to evaluate her injuries and left the court for additional treatment. She returned to the court with a determined attitude, hoping to give a tough match to Rybakina. Despite her best attempts, Haddad Maia’s injury proved too serious to continue, and she retired from the match with Rybakina leading 4-1.
