Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently one of the best players on tour and definitely is a force to reckon with on clay. Last year, he was the best clay-court player and won 2 titles, and also finished runner-up at the French Open. This year too, he has started the clay season on a high by defending his Money Carlos Masters title.
He then made it to the quarterfinal of the Barcelona Open where he lost to eventual champion Carlos Alcaraz. Tsitsipas will now compete at the Madrid Masters next and has received a fairly easy draw. He has a comfortable path until the semifinals where he is expected to meet second seed Alexader Zverev. The Greek is one of the huge favorites to win the title in Madrid and would want to do better than the last season.
Tsitsipas is one of the most active tennis players on social media, especially on Twitter. He regularly tweets about random things, jokes, and cryptic short notes. He is recently in limelight due to a tweet he posted about Tesla. He tried to recall a joke about the Tesla car and said that if he drives a Tesla and it gets stolen, will it be referred to as Edison?
Fans take hilarious jibes at Stefanos Tsitsipas
The context dates back a few centuries to a conflict between two great minds, Nikola Tesla and Thomas Edison. The two greats were in conflict regarding the current supply invention- AC and DC. It is popularly remarked that Edison stole Tesla’s idea and gets undue credit. Tsitsipas was referring to this aspect by drawing a parallel with Elon Musk’s company- Tesla.
Fans were quick to point out that Tsitsipas has stolen this joke and quoted the tweet from 5 years ago as proof. Many asked him to focus on his game rather than sharing bad stolen jokes on social media.
