Roger Federer is the most famous tennis player of all time. His technique and sheer display of skill on the court is like none other. He is the first man to win 20 Grand Slams. For us tennis fans it seems like Roger has been playing for our whole life and we still want him to continue. But, even the most glorious players have to pass on the mantle at a certain age.

Roger is 40 years old and has been getting injured a lot and quite often. He had suffered a right knee injury in 2020. He skipped the 2021 season of the Australian Open due to that injury. He made a comeback at the Wimbledon and made it to the quarterfinals, becoming the oldest Wimbledon quarterfinalist in the open era. He soon underwent another knee surgery and is training hard to make a return in the 2022 season.

He was seen training for his return and the fans already know that Federer will be back with his long-time rival and friend Rafa Nadal at the Laver Cup which is scheduled to be held from September 23, 2022. The new question is that “Will Roger make a return at the Roland Garros?” With Nadal grabbing the 21st Grand Slam and pulling ahead of Roger and Djokovic, will roger try his luck at the French Open 2022?

The Rehabilitation after injuries and surgeries is going well as he has revealed through his social media. Fans would like to see him on the clay court again, but whether he can play the French Open, the Wimbledon, and the Laver Cup one after the other is a big question considering his age and how prone to injuries he is.

Roger Federer himself said: “At 40 or 41, it’s the same. The question is whether I can push myself hard day after day. Today, my heart says yes. So I’m going step by step.”

“It’s another challenge like I’ve faced many times in my career, sometimes without the public realizing it. And even if I know very well that the end is near, I want to try to play some more big matches. It won’t be easy but we’re going to try.”

It looks highly unlikely that Federer will play the 2022 French Open but again, it’s all up to Roger which tournament he chooses to play, but fans will be eagerly waiting for his return at one of the Grand Slams as it might be the final stride of the tennis legend.
