“It drives me nuts.” GOAT Serena Williams reveals surprising news of enlisting her daughter in a tennis Academy
Serena Williams with daughter Olympia
Serena Williams is one of the best players of her generation. But it looks like the former world no. 1 does have a weakness. She proclaims that she has no patience for teaching or training others in tennis. The tennis star revealed that she had made her four-year-old daughter Olympia join the academy without the coach knowing who Williams was.
For those of you who are not aware, the tennis legend has an adorable four-year-old daughter, who is the talk of the town. Fans hope that Olympia does compete in tennis tournaments and becomes the legend her mom is. In a recent conversation with famous talk show Ellen DeGeneres, the American star was asked by the host, if the coach really did not know Williams, to which Serena replied that she does not have the patience required to teach.
“You enrolled her in tennis classes with a coach but you did not tell the coach that you were the mother?” asked Ellen, to which Serena replied, “I don’t have the patience to teach tennis. It drives me nuts.”

She also, later on, said that she didn’t feel the connection that she was supposed to have like all mothers did during her pregnancy. “I was nervous about meeting my baby. Throughout my pregnancy, I’d never felt a connection with her. While I loved being pregnant, I didn’t have that amazing ‘Oh my God, this is my baby’ moment, ever. It’s something people don’t usually talk about because we’re supposed to be in love from the first second,” said Williams as reported by tennisuptodate.
Although she did feel protective about the baby, she did not come to think of it as her own and was reassured by some of the mothers that this does happen, but she wanted the connection.
“Yes, I was a lioness who would protect her baby at any cost, but I wasn’t gushing over her. I kept waiting to feel like I knew her during pregnancy, but the feeling never came. Some of my mom friends told me they didn’t feel the connection in the womb either, which made me feel better, but still, I longed for it.” said the tennis legend and former world no. 1.
The 40-year-old who will be returning to the world of tennis soon and is currently married to Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian also added, “When I finally saw her – and I just knew it was going to be a girl, that was one thing I knew about her before we even had it confirmed – I loved her right away. It wasn’t exactly instantaneous, but it was there, and from that seed, it grew.”
