Swiatek has often shown her admiration towards the Spaniard and was in the stands during Nadal’s Australian Open finals. A lifelong Nadal fan, the Pole seeks inspiration from her idol and this time it was Rafa’s turn to speak about the World No. 1 on the WTA Tour.

“I texted her a couple of times because it is unbelievable how she is playing and it is unbelievable the way she is able to hold the concentration. the winning spirit for such a long. I think it is something very difficult to make it happen that she is able to do. I don’t think she is not losing a match since Indian Wells if I am not wrong (Swiatek is unbeaten since Qatar Open), that’s amazing.

“I think when she is playing well, it is very difficult to stop her. Her shots are a little bit different, with a lot of power and she is able to move well. When she’s confident, she has shots that are very difficult to stop for the rest of the girls. I like her I think she has a very positive attitude toward tennis and I’m happy that a good girl like her is getting a lot of success,” said Nadal in his post-match press conference after defeating Berankis.

Nadal will now take on Lorenzo Sonego in the third round while Swiatek will be against French veteran Alize Cornet as both the French Open champions eye another Grand Slam title for the season.
