He has revealed, however, an interesting bit about what goes on in his head before a match. The 24-year-old said that he stresses out in the beginning and assures himself that it will be alright if he remains calm. Then he again messes up in the match and somehow towards the end calms down and makes it through.

Phew!! Talk about a complicated set of emotions. However, it could also very well be due to the Russia-Ukraine war and the Wimbledon ban on Russian players controversy.

Russian players such as Rublev and Daniil Medvedev are currently banned from Wimbledon. Not just in tennis, but in the case of football, FIFA has banned Russia from playing and Russian players are supposed to play under the name of the Football Union of Russia with no fans in the stadium. In the case of Formula 1, the Russian F1 Grand Prix tournament is said to have been canceled.

It is no wonder that Rublev is so stressed as he could also be thinking about the situation he is in because of being a Russian. The world no. 8 recently defeated Dan Evans to reach the quarterfinals in Madrid.
