“It seems like the right kind of players are here!” Iga Swiatek takes a sly dig at Emma Raducanu as she makes her way to the US Open semi-finals

Iga Swiatek, the 21-year-old Polish international is undoubtedly the best player in the women’s circuit currently, ranked at world number 1, Swiatek has cemented herself as truly a formidable opponent for anyone in the world and she has been showing her dominance in the ongoing US Open.
Swiatek has struggled for the most part during her North American swing, she did manage to reach the quarter-finals of the Poland Open where she was eliminated by French professional Caroline Garcia, Swiatek then faced second round exits in both the Canadian Open and the Cincinnati Masters event.

World number 1, Iga Swiatek’s form has taken quite a turn around as she is blowing past opponents at the ongoing US Open, Swiatek has made her way into the event’s semi-finals as she has defeated the likes of Paolini, Sloane Stephens, Lauren Davis, Jule Niemeier, and Jessica Pegula to book her place in the semis.
In her post-match press conference, Iga Swiatek seems to have taken a dig at last year’s champion, Emma Raducanu, Swiatek said, “It seems like the right kind of players are here who are consistent and who are working really hard. You can see that they were improving, like Garcia. Ons is consistent as well in Grand Slams.“
“Yeah, it feels like we all earned it. So it’s different. I mean, they always earn it. You know what I mean. Sometimes it was just the semifinals were players who were all a surprise. Right now we’re pretty solid. So I’m happy about that,” Swiatek seems to have called Emma Raducanu’s run at last year’s US Open a surprise and it was surely a surprise as the young Brit came through to win the tournament as a qualifier.
After defeating Jessica Pegula in the quarter-finals of the US Open, Polish professional Iga Swiatek will be going up against Aryna Sabalenka in the semi-final stages of the event, the world number 1 will be full of confidence and will be looking to book her place in the finals of the final major tournament of the season.
