Reminiscing her confrontations with the tennis legend Serena Williams, the former world No. 1, and retired tennis professional, Ashleigh Barty, in an interview with The Post, recalled and discussed how she felt facing the American icon in her two matches against her.

Williams, who is already the talk of the town given her retirement plans post US Open 2022, is known to have faced Ash Barty twice, back at the Australian Open in 2014 when she defeated the Aussie who was just 18 at the time with a score of 6-2, 6-1 and again at Roland Garros in 2018 when she was sent packing with an almost identical score of 3-6, 6-3, 6-4 quoted encountering the American as “I was intimidated to play against her.”

“I would have liked to face her one last time” Ashleigh Barty on one more crack at Serena Williams

Five months ago, Ashleigh Barty’s shocking retirement revelation certainly took the global tennis community and Aussie fans by surprise talks about how she is content with her current existence while also reflecting on her confrontation against Serena Williams by saying, “the first time we face each other I was just a kid, I was still very young, I was intimidated to play against her.

Revealing her intentions, the retired 26-year-old further went on record quoting “I would have liked to face her one last time, it’s my competitive spirit, I learned a lot from my experiences” hinting how she would love to take another crack at the American queen who is also bound to end her career in a few days, Barty further went on to express her heartfelt wishes to her saying “I know she has expressed excitement about trying to expand her family and have another child, so hopefully everything goes well for her and she can do it.”

When asked about giving a glimpse into what the future possibly holds for the three-time Grand Slam champion, made it crystal clear that there’s no coming back to tennis and assured the same quoting “I promise you!” Ash Barty, who got married to lover Garry Kissick earlier this year is one of the favorites amongst Australians who is known to be a reining championship at the Australian Open.
