Wold No. 11 Emma Raducanu and former World No. 1 Andy Murray have recently got tennis fans excited over a possible mixed-doubles pairing as both the ATP and WTA Tour shift focus towards the UK for the upcoming 2022 Wimbledon Championships and many other warm-up tournaments on the grasscourt scheduled in the region.

Murray and Raducanu are rumoured to form a pairing in the mixed doubles and could also play in the Championships later this month making an all-British team in the Grand Slam. Murray had initially expressed his desire to form a team with the US Open champ and also revealed that they almost formed a pair last year but things didn’t work out and this year it might actually fall in places.

“Last year we talked about it, but we both ended up doing well in the singles. I would love to play with Emma at some stage. I’m sure we will both focus on having good runs in the singles, but yeah – I’d love to do that,” Murray had told reporters to which Emma has now given her reply.

It’s not a surprise that every tennis player growing up in the last decade has looked at Murray as their inspiration and Emma is surely one of them who didn’t turn down the offer to pair up with the 3-time Grand Slam champion. “We haven’t actually spoken about it but it’s something we feel we both want to do. I’m not sure if this is going to be the year but hopefully, it will happen. Soonish,” said Emma as per BBC.

The only problem that could come in between the two Brits pairing is Emma’s fitness. Making her grass-court debut in Nottingham, Emma lasted only 7 games in the match handing a walkover in the first set as she was put down by another injury. Post the withdrawal, Emma confessed to being unsure about her participation in the upcoming Grand Slam. Even if she participates, she would like to focus on the singles and could skip the Mixed-Doubles plan with Murray.
