Former Italian player Giorgio Galimberti lauds Novak Djokovic and believes that in his current form, it’s practically impossible to beat him. According to the Italian, the sole possibility for other players to defeat the Serbian tennis star is if he experiences a significant decline in form. To illustrate this point, the Italian pointed out Djokovic’s dominant performance in the Australian Open despite serious injury concerns.

During his appearance on the Italy Tennis Players program on Youtube, the former 115th-ranked singles player and 65th-ranked doubles player, who currently serves as the director of his academy, was questioned about Novak Djokovic’s performance after winning his 10th Australian Open title.

Speaking on YouTube, he said “Right now, Djokovic is a war machine and we saw him at the end of the year at Paris Bercy, even though he lost that final against Rune. He started the year in style, winning the Australian Open hands down. The only problem for other players is that if Djokovic is fine, he is unplayable. He won the final with an injury of some magnitude. Our Italian players are easily among the favorites to win Grand Slams, the problem is that on the way we have to meet Nole.”

He also added “Djokovic’s consistency is always on top, performance gaps are very rare, there are maybe 2 or 3 games in the year where he plays really badly, while the average player who plays badly does it more often. Djokovic, on the other hand, is a player who, even if he is not 100%, is able to express an average level of play because he is very solid and defensively he is impressive, he leaves no space for his opponents.”
