Ons Jabeur has been having a great year as she became the first Tunisian woman to reach the finals of a Grand Slam event. Even though she defeated some outstanding players to reach the finals at Wimbledon in 2022, she lost to Elena Rybakina in an exciting final match, and also for both of them, it was their maiden final at the Grand Slams. She has three singles titles on the ATP Tour to her name.

After the loss at Wimbledon, Jabeur will return to action at the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic tournament in California ahead of the US Open 2022. She was awarded the ‘Arab Women of the Year Award’ in 2019 for her outstanding performance and played a significant role in placing forward her country at the big tournaments.

Ahead of the start of her hard-court season, Ons Jabeur took some time off to attend a soccer match between San Jose Earthquakes vs Real Salt Lake fixture in San Jose. She got an opportunity to interact with the former American soccer player Brandi Chastain who is a  two-time FIFA Women’s World Cup champion, two-time Olympic gold medalist as well as a coach and sports broadcaster. In her 192 caps on the team, she scored 30 goals playing primarily in the defender and midfielder positions.

In a recent video shared by the official page of the tournament, Chastain is elated about meeting with Jabeur at her home stadium and assured her that it is a pleasure to meet her in person. She spoke “Pleasure to meet you Ons. Thank you for being such a great champion, it’s a pleasure to watch you.” Even after her loss at Wimbledon, she is super proud of her and spoke highly of the Tunisian player thanking her for encouraging women to go out to work without any fear and follow their passion. She added “And sincerely, another thank you for representing ALL women who work to compete and showcase their talent wherever their heart takes them. Best wishes

At the Mubadala Silicon Valley Classic, along with Jabeur, the tournament will also feature the likes of Elena Rybakina, Naomi Osaka, Coco Gauff, and many others.
