“It’s a possibilty” Novak Djokovic hints at Big-4 reunion at the 2022 Laver Cup
Novak Djokovic with the Team Europe
The Laver Cup is an exciting team event, held annually between Team Europe and Team World, where six players representing both teams compete in singles and doubles match for 3 days. The weightage of win points is the same as the day, meaning a win on the first day gives 1 point, 2nd day 2 points, and 3rd day 3 points. Laver Cup has a unique feature where some of the biggest rivals work together as a team for a duration of three days.
The opening edition of the Laver Cup featured Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal teaming up to represent Team Eurpope. It was glorious sight as two of the biggest rivals in tennis played together and won their doubles match. The two will reunite for the second time at Laver Cup 2022 in London. This time, Team Europe will feature the debut of Andy Murray. With Murray’s inclusion, three of the Big Four are playing in the Laver Cup and it would be perfect if Novak Djokovic could join the team and for the first time, all of the Big Four would play for team Europe.
Novak Djokovic says that talks are on for him joining Team Europe.
Djokovic said: “It would be very unique,” about a chance to play with all of his biggest rivals in the same team. Laver Cup is a premier team event in the indoor hard courts and it would a great move for the entertainment purpose to rope in Djokovic as it might be one of the last opportunities for them to play as a team, with their retirements getting closer.
Novak continued: “It is a possibility. My agent has communication with the Laver Cup team. We have an agreement that there will be a decision after Wimbledon is finished. Laver Cup is the only competition where you can have all the big rivals, the big three, big four players joining in the same team.”
