“It’s f***ing sad and pathetic!” Fans flood US Open’s post for Naomi Osaka with pro-Novak Djokovic propaganda
Naomi Osaka and Novak Djokovic
Novak Djokovic, the 35-year-old Serbian is undoubtedly one of the greatest tennis players of all time, with 21 Grand Slam titles to his name, Djokovic has well worked his way into the history books and alongside the two other greats of the sport, Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal.
The Serbian has had various ups and downs during his career, he has been surrounded by controversies ever since the pandemic and ever since he made his stance regarding the Covid-19 vaccine clear. Djokovic made the decision of not getting vaccinated for the coronavirus which has caused him to miss many tournaments.
Fans protest under a post on Twitter with calls supporting Novak Djokovic
Wimbledon champion, Novak Djokovic has captured the headlines for quite some time now, the Serbian decided against taking the vaccine for the virus, and due to the immigration rules of the USA government, Djokovic will not be permitted into the country which will mean that he will be missing this year’s US Open.
The US Open took to Twitter to post a picture of Japanese professional Naomi Osaka and asked the fans to comment on what she is thinking in the picture that they posted. Many people ignored the context of the photo and decide to push their pro-Novak Djokovic agenda in the post. One fan replied to the tweet saying, “She’s wondering: what kind of country is this that allows the unvaccinated crowd to attend the matches but a player who has won 21 Grand Slams can’t.“
Instead of making the post about Osaka, fans decided to let the organizers know how they feel about Novak Djokovic not participating at the Flushing Meadows this season, the event organizers made it clear very early on that they will be following the country’s immigration rules and they have no say in whether Novak Djokovic can participate or not unless the country allows him to enter. Fans have been outraging for weeks on the matter and it seems very unlikely now that Djokovic will play at the US Open.
