World. 1 Iga Swiatek has started her campaign for the 2023 season at the United Cup in Australia. Continuing on her dominant performance of the last season, the Polish star defeated Yulia Putintseva by 6-1, 6-3 confirming her fine form. As the season progresses Swiatek is looking to add some more titles to her tally.
The 21-year-old Swiatek had some magnificent returns on the court last year winning eight titles overall. But she does not feel overconfident about that. For Swiatek, every tournament is a ‘new chapter.
Though Swiatek is the clear favorite in the 2023 season, she is aware of the issues she faced last year. “I just think that (it would) be pretty easy for my head to kind of compare everything to last year,” she said.
“I feel like it’s not going to be helpful because last year was so – on the one hand, it wasn’t perfect – but sometimes when you win tournaments, all your head can remember is those good moments and that it went so smoothly,” Swiatek further added elaborating on the point.

Iga Swiatek is the clear favorite for the 2023 season
Polish star Iga Swiatek‘s performance in 2022 season can not be emphasized enough. Only a couple of players were able to tackle her successfully on the court. The 21-year-old won two Grand Slams last year one in the US Open and another in French Open.
As the 2022 season has given way to the new season, Swiatek still remains a clear favorite to win titles. Czech-American tennis icon Martina Navratilova has too declared that the Pole will continue her dominance. Swiatek herself discussed what it feels like to go as a favorite. “Yeah, we’ll see how I’m going to go with that,” she said. “I feel like I’m getting stronger and stronger in my mind, so maybe I’m going to be able to control that,” she further added.
Swiatek has given a perfect start to the season with an easy win over Yulia Putintseva in Brisbane representing her team Poland. This win will further boost her confidence with the Australian Open in line. Fans can not wait for their favorite star to further dominate her rule as the season progresses.
