Winning his first game at the Canadian Open, Kyrgios beat Sebastian Baez in the round of 64 of the event, Kyrgios faces a tough opponent in the round of 32 as the Australian professional faces world number 1 Daniil Medvedev who is back from winning the Los Cabos Open recently.

Fans are excited over Medvedev’s clash with Kyrgios as it promises a mouth-watering match between the two players, Kyrgios, however, has pulled another one of his classic stunts it seems as he seems to have taken a cheeky dig at Sebastian Baez who he beat in the round of 64 of the Canadian Open.

Kyrgios said, “Medvedev is coming from a title too and he is the #1 in the world. It’s not like the rankings mean too much as the guy I played today is ranked ahead of me. But Medvedev is a machine,” talking about Daniil Medvedev, Kyrgios talked about Baez as well but didn’t take his name and mentioned him as the ‘guy who I beat’.

Fans took to Twitter to express their displeasure on the face that Kyrgios couldn’t respect Baez enough to mention his name and the 27-year-old Australian faced a lot of heat over his statement.

He seems to have mended his ways however as after winning the match against Baez, he said, “Really impressed with my performance today. Sebastian is probably having the best year of his career. He’s top 35 in the world. He’s a great competitor. So I knew it was going to be tough.”
