Mats Wilander compares Coco Gauff’s playstyle to that of Novak Djokovic

Coco Gauff has been excellent in the US Open so far, she has made it to the quarter-finals of the tournament after beating Leolia Jeanjean, Elena-Gabriela Ruse, Madison Keys, and Zhang Shuai. Gauff has been almost flawless in her matches and she will be looking to continue this form going forward.
Mats Wilander being impressed with Gauff’s performances compared her to Serbian professional Novak Djokovic, he said, “She just gets the mix between offense and defense, I mean, the backhand, it’s Novak-esque the way she defends on the backhand side. She’s everywhere.“
“The difference is that Coco, she can do that, but she can also defend. And she’s as good on the backhand side as she is on the forehand side. She really is the total package. She’s a rarity in the way she’s defending, but the pressure is the part that is impressing me the most.“
“It’s very difficult to find weaknesses. Of course, we saw them in the final against Iga Swiatek in Paris, but here, on a hard court, what would be the game plan against her? Hitting it hard? She doesn’t have a hole in her game,” Wilander added further.
After making her way to the quarter-finals, Coco Gauff will be going up against French professional Caroline Garcia in the next round which is going to be a nail bite.
