Great Britain secured a thrilling win over France in their last group-stage game of the Davis Cup Finals and booked themselves a spot in the Final 8. They, along with Australia, will go to Malaga for the knock-out stage from Group B. The players were over the moon and it reflected in their celebrations. While the senior players like Andy Murray kept the celebration limited to the court, the younger ones, like Jack Draper, did it all night.
Draper, who was rested for the game against France but had played a big role in Britain’s win over Australia a couple of days back, was seen enjoying a beer while singing on their way back home in a video doing the rounds on the internet. Murray, meanwhile, was driving the car and looked annoyed.
The 38-year-old who celebrated with his lungs out on the court did not seem to enjoy this act from Draper. As the youngster kept tilting the camera towards Murray, the latter showed his middle finger. Murray then shared the video on social media while calling Draper a kid. “Kids these days. 3 and half hours of this on way home,” wrote Murray while sharing the clip.
Great Britain sail into knockouts with three wins in three matches
Coming to Great Britain’s campaign at the 2023 Davis Cup Finals, the Leon Smith-led team won all of its three matches in the group stage. All three wins were well-earned as Britain maintained a 6-3 W-L record. However, the most thrilling win was over France as GB was 1-1 level after the second match, between Cameron Norrie and Ugo Humbert.

It was down to Daniel Evans and Neal Skupski to bail their team out and the doubles pair did not disappoint. They clinched a three-set thriller 1-6, 7-6(4), 7-6(6) against Nicolas Mahut and Edouard Roger-Vasselin. The players as well as the GB fans were over the moon and it reflected in the celebrations. Captain Smith fell short of words as he talked about the win.
“It was bonkers. I’m not sure what I’ve just sat through for nine hours,” said the GB captain (via LTA). “I’m not sure if this is our ninth hour or so of playing but it’s tough to keep going all the time and everybody here did a good job. They needed a bit of help and that’s normal. Thank you, everyone, thank you Manchester, and thank you LTA for putting it on.”
