Britain’s tennis star Jack Draper earned a hard-fought win against American Marcos Giron in the first round of the Australian Open.

However, the match took too much toll on Draper, as he was completely fatigued. Moreover, he even took a puke after the match was completed. Playing at such high temperatures in Australia with high intensity was difficult for both players.

It was weird. I obviously played such a long point, maybe it was sort of a reaction to finally getting over the line. I don't know. It kind of felt bad because I obviously just beat the guy. And I was saying, I need to shake your hand, mate, but I need to get to that bin.
Draper said.

Draper started the match well in the first set, winning it 6-4. However, Marcos Giron came back strongly and won the next two sets.

The pressure was on the Brits, as he had to win the fourth set to keep the match alive. And boy did he turn up. The 22-year-old allowed Giron just two points in the next two sets and clinched the two sets convincingly.

It took huge efforts from Draper to earn the win in the first round of the tournament. Playing a 3-hour and 20-minute match in the hottest part of the day even forced him to take a medical timeout.
