Anna Kalinskaya wins her first WTA title in the Dubai Tennis Championships beating Italy's Jasmine Paolini in the finals.

Jasmine Paolini is having a superb week in the Dubai Tennis Championships. The Italian player won her second WTA title after beating Russia’s Anna Kalinskaya in the finals. The match went down the wire with both the players giving it their all. Kalinskaya made a superb start to the match beating Paolini in the first set 6-4. It was a superb display of positioning from the World No.40 as she won the set with a fierce forehand.
Anna Kalinskaya also ensured a smooth start to the second set as she raced to a 3-1 lead. It all seemed that this is the place where the Russian will be winning her first WTA title. However, Paolini recovered quickly to make it 3-4. And eventually break upon the Russian to clinch the second set and draw level with her in the match.

The deciding set too started off with a ferocious break from Kalinskaya as she clinched an early advantage in the set as she raced to a 4-2 lead. Kalinskaya once again edged Paolini to a 5-3 dominance. However, Paolini made a superb comeback to level up to 5-5 in the third set after Kalinskaya hit the net. With double faults by the Russian player, Paolini got the opportunity for a championship point and she converted it superbly to win the title.
Kalinskaya and Paolini were squaring off for the third time. Both players had one win each over the other. However, the Italian’s run in this tournament was not at par with the Russian. Kalinskaya beat two of the top-seeded players of the tournament in Iga Swiatek and Coco Gauff. She is only the second qualifier to reach a WTA 1000 final.

It has been a tournament to remember for the Russian player. The 25-year-old showcased an amazing display of grit especially in the match against Swiatek when she was 2-4 down in the first set of the match.

The Russian player made an amazing comeback to clinch the set and hand the World No.1 her first defeat of the Dubai swing. In the second set she absolutely dominated the World No.1 to set up the finals against Paolini.
Besides Swiatek, the 25-year-old also defeated Gauff and Jelena Ostapenko en route to the finals. However, the Russian player fell short of the title by a whisker as Paolini scripts a superb comeback to win her second WTA title.
