“I almost need a helicopter,” Former World No. 1 Jelena Jankovic’s comments calling out US Open’s horrible scheduling resurface amid Holger Rune’s criticism
A quote from former World No. 1, Jelena Jankovic, has resurfaced following Holger Rune's cheeky tweet about not being able to find the courts.
Following Holger Rune’s cheeky tweet asking for help from fans to find his way to the court, Jelena Jankovic’s comment from 2008 regarding similar issues has resurfaced. Jankovic had voiced her disappointment when assigned court 18, given the reason that it was a ‘TV Court’.
“I almost need a helicopter,” she said as she referred to her allotment to court 18 at Wimbledon 2008. She also emphasized the fact that top-seeded players and defending champions have earned the right to play in the top courts.
The Serb also said that she was playing almost in the parking lot. She also emphasized, that she had asked for a favor to play later in the day, which the authorities rejected.
While Rune’s comment has asked for better navigation from authorities, Jankovic’s interview almost criticized the organization for its scheduling inconsistencies. This is not the first time Grand Slam organizers have been called out for their lack of transparency.
