Jelena Ostapenko, known for her villainous behavior in tennis has always been caught with a breakdown on the court. Whether it’s during the match or after it finishes, the Latvian never fails to find herself under the spotlight. 

She recently was caught animatedly talking to herself during her second-round match against Ajla Tomljanovic at the Australian Open. In a riveting second-round clash, she was up against an old rival Tomljanovic, and managed to secure a win to see her through to the next round. Luckily for the fans, there were some on-court gestures and complaints from the Latvian’s side. Ostapenko was extremely furious with her box during the match and kicked almost everyone out of there.

However, after the match, Ostapenko’s trainer put up a story on his Instagram posting a positive message for his player after receiving such treatment which triggered a wave of reactions from the fans against the Latvian. “If you’re gonna lie, lie big” posted a fan on X. This is one of the many issues started by the Latvian who continues to be an animated character both on and off the court.

Latvian pro-Jelena Ostapenko continues to find a way to stay under the spotlight. From rude behavior on the court to shouting at the umpire, the Latvian continues to remain the supervillain of WTA.

Starting her year off with a huge war of words with the chair umpire, Ostapenko grabbed early attention and made everyone focus on her during the Australian Open. She rudely shouted at the chair umpire for a wrong call and clearly said that she didn’t want her in any of her matches. Here are some of the reactions:

However, recently she took her on-court fury outside and continues to fuel the fans’ trolls. After an entertaining match against Ajla Tomljanovic, the Latvian was spotted making animated faces and hand gestures to herself while recovering. This gave more content for trolls as Ostapenko remains as the supervillain of WTA. Nonetheless, her tennis game has been good and she continues her fine run at the Australian Open. With the draw very open, Ostapenko would look to find a big break early in the season and try for a maiden Slam.
