Jessica Pegula and Denny Kellington
Jessica Pegula has a long association with American football and the NFL. Her parents- Terry and Kim Pegula own the NFL team Buffalo Bills. On January 3, 2023, Buffalo Bills took on Cincinnati Bengals. It was an exciting fixture. The fans of both sides were cheering on. But suddenly the game came to a halt.
Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin collapsed on the field after making a tackle. He suffered a cardia arrest. Soon, Bills athletic trainer Denny Kellington rushed to the field. He gave CPR to the injured player and restored his heartbeat, while the players from both the teams sat around him in a circle, praying.
Jessica Pegula thanked Denny Kellington and called him a ‘hero’.
“One hero who should be recognized here: Last night, I was told the work of Bills assistant athletic trainer Denny Kellington in administering CPR to Damar Hamlin on Monday was absolutely vital. The speed and skill with which he and others reacted = A huge difference-maker,” she was reported to have said.
Damar Hamlin has been rushed to a nearby hospital. Doctors told the media that he was in critical condition. Recent news has arrived that the American football safety is showing a remarkable recovery after the incident. But he may have to stay in the hospital for quite some time as he is still ‘critically ill‘.

When the incident with Damar Hamlin happened, Jessica Pegula was in Australia in the middle of Team USA’s United Cup tie. She was supporting Frances Tiafoe. However, she took some time to take a look at her mobile phone. She was shocked when she saw the news and recording of the match.
“I felt sick. It was just terrible. I think everyone felt that way that was watching,” the World No.3 continued.
Jessica Pegula also sent her prayers for the return of the good health of the American football player. Other tennis players such as Billie Jean King, Patrick McEnroe, Eugenie Bouchard, Ons Jabeur, Rennae Stubbs, Coco Gauff and John Isner among others joined in with her.
