Jessica Pegula off to a shaky start in 2024

Pegula’s 2023 season was one of the highlights of her career so far. She won three titles including the WTA-1000 in Montreal. She also finished runner-up in three events. At the Grand Slams, she reached the quarter-finals in Australian Open and Wimbledon.

Only the French Open was not good for her as she crashed out in the third round. At her home Slam in the US Open, she reached the fourth round. But she did make it to the finals in Mixed Doubles and quarter-finals of the Women’s Doubles.

With high hopes for her in 2024, she is yet to perform as expected. She is 4-2 for the season. Having started her season in the United Cup, she won one and lost one of her matches. In Adelaide, she had to give a walkover in the semi-finals due to injury concerns.

At the 2024 Australian Open, she was one of the many shocking top seeds to falter early. She crashed out in the second round to Clara Burel in straight-sets. Since then, she is yet to play on the Tour and will have to make some good runs to return to form as she was in 2023.
