Along with her long-time partner Coco Gauff, she began her doubles campaign, getting into the final as the first seed. Despite that, they had to suffer a huge loss in the very first group-stage matchup. In terms of personal records, Pegula also bagged a win in the first group stage match of the singles section against Elena Rybakina. With her straight-set victory over Rybakina, Pegula set a new record for her consecutive first-set wins.
But in her second matchup against World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka, she shocked the entire world by beating the Belarussian in straight sets spicing things up in her group and leaving the door to the semi-finals wide open. On her last group stage matchup, Pegula will take on Maria Sakkari.
