He expressed that the Italian quarterfinal victory was a big deal for Rune. It is known that Novak Djokovic was preparing for the Roland Garros and that the Italian Open was not his priority. Djokovic is a favorite to win the 2023 French Open, and Holger Rune beating him should give him the confidence he needs.

Jim Courier expressed that Djokovic was using the Italian Open to prepare for France and Rune defeating him should provide Rune with enough confidence to perform.“Rune has to feel like the work he’s been putting in is really paying off. He made the quarterfinals of the last year’s Roland-Garros as he was a shadow of the player that he is now. So, that is how good he is and has definitely got the confidence.”, Jim Courier said.

“My goal is a Slam for this year. You know, I won a Masters 1000 now in Paris, and I think the next step is a Slam, and I know it takes a lot, and maybe it happens or maybe it doesn’t, but I’m going to go for it 100 percent,” said Rune.
