Ons Jabeur is probably one of the most consistent players on the Grand Slam stage in the past 12 months. The Tunisian tennis player has reached 3 Grand Slam finals in the past 12 months. However, she has failed to win any of the three finals.
Her latest defeat came in the finals of Wimbledon, as Marketa Vondrousova saw her off in straight sets. This was her second consecutive defeat in the Wimbledon finals after she was ousted by Elena Rybakina in three sets last year. Talking about this, former American tennis player Jimmy Connors acknowledged Ons Jabeur’s consistency but believes that she stalls on the final hurdle.
“You know, I think she’s been in three finals and out of the last five or six Grand Slams if I’m not mistaken. And you know, playing some good tennis but she stalls. Yeah, it seems that she stalls when she gets to the final,” said Jimmy Connors on the ‘Advantage Connors’ podcast.

Ons Jabeur withdraws from Canadian Open owing to fresh injury concerns
Jimmy Connors further stated that he started following Jabeur a couple of years ago when she started making the noise on the WTA Tour. The Tunisian did fairly well in 2021, as she has been among the players to watch out for in the past two years.
“I guess it was what, two or three years ago where, you know, I’m not gonna say you jumped on the Ons Jabeur bandwagon but you picked her for you know, for a while to really start breaking through and making a name for herself,” said Connors.
Jabeur has withdrawn from the upcoming Canadian Open owing to fresh injury concerns. The Tunisian has suffered from a knee injury, which would likely place her hopes of competing at the 2023 US Open in jeopardy. The three-time Grand Slam finalist has not had the best year on tour, with her fair share of struggles with injuries.
The Tunisian reached the finals of the US Open last year, where she was eventually defeated by Iga Swiatek in the finals. She played exceptionally well to reach the finals, dropping just one set before her loss to the world number one.
