The former world No. 1, Jimmy Connors, believes Wimbledon 2023 will be a golden chance for Novak Djokovic to get ahead of Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal and create a separation between them. Novak Djokovic recently won his 23rd Grand Slam title, winning the French Open 2023 just a month ago.

The big three have been rivaling each other over the most Grand Slam titles for about two decades. Jimmy Connors talked about the success Novak Djokovic has had, and also the possibility of greater success in the coming years.

He said, “So now he has the chance to separate himself from Federer & Nadal. He’s at 23, what’s it going to be? 30? 30 Slams? I mean, how many more years can he play? He’s 36 so could he play another 3-4 years & what can he get out of that?”

He believes 23 might not be the last for 36-year-old Novak Djokovic. He insists Novak Djokovic might be on course to have 30 Grand Slam titles to his name at the end of his career, assuming he plays four more years until the age of 40.

As per the American, Novak Djokovic’s experience in the Grand Slams enables him to make that possibility a reality. He adds that Wimbledon 2023 might be his best chance to continue the lead against Rafael Nadal and Roger Federer. With the titles Novak Djokovic has won at Wimbledon, Rafael Nadal’s injury, and only the NextGen players to challenge him for the trophy, Novak Djokovic is already the favorite to win the tournament.

With that being said, it seems like the year 2023 completely belongs to the Serbian. This year, Novak has also bagged the first two Grand Slam titles of the year (the Australian Open and the French Open) and is the favorite to win Wimbledon as well.

Currently, Novak Djokovic has 23 Grand Slam titles at the age of 36. Assuming Novak plays for about 4 more years until the end of 2026, he will have 14 more Grand Slam title opportunities.

Winning seven Grand Slam titles out of 14 would not be much of a challenge for the Serbian if he manages to stay fit. With no Rafael Nadal, a comparatively easier half of the draw, and only young players in Wimbledon 2023, it surely would be the best time for the current World No. 2 to start his journey towards an achievable 30 Grand Slam titles at the end of his career.
