Jordan Thompson is currently having a dream run in his career. He has performed brilliantly in the last few tournaments and has now finally won silverware at the Los Cabos Open. He defeated Casper Ruud in the final of the tournament in straight sets to win his first-ever tour-level trophy.
The Australian has had a sensational performance throughout this tournament. Particularly in the semifinal match against Alexander Zverev, he showed grit and class and won the thrilling 3-set encounter in a tie-breaker at the end of the third set.

In the match against Casper Ruud, he won the first set without any effort. The Norwegian played significantly better in the second set, but Thompson maintained his composure and once again won the match in the tiebreaker.
Jordan Thompson won a prize of $139,190 after winning the singles title at the Los Cabos Open. However, he has also made it to the final of the doubles event at the tournament alongside his partner Max Purcell. They will be playing against the team of Gonzalo Escobar and Aleksandr Nedovyesov. Winning the doubles final will fetch Jordan Thompson another $48,360. Thus, it has been an extremely successful outing for him so far.
Thompson and Purcell also won the men’s doubles trophy at the 2024 Dallas Open a few days ago as they defeated William Blumberg and Rinky Hijikata in the final. His best individual achievement besides the Los Cabos Open so far this season has been making it to the semifinals of the Brisbane International, where he suffered a defeat against Grigor Dimitrov. Thompson also defeated Rafael Nadal in the quarterfinal of the 2024 Brisbane International.
Jordan Thompson says Los Cabos is his favorite place now
Thompson is currently 29 years old, and the wait for his first-ever trophy has indeed been long. However, it was definitely worth the wait, as he said in his post-match interview. He also said that Los Cabos is now his favorite place.

I spent so many hours on the court this week. In the quarter-final I could have been double bagelled, I could have been losing 6-0, 6-0 and now I'm about to lift the trophy, so I think it's still a miracle. It's been a journey. I'm nearly 30 and I'm lifting a trophy; I never thought I would do that. My favorite place now, without a doubt.Thompson said
The Australian will probably shift his focus to Indian Wells after a successful run in Mexico.
