Juan Carlos Ferrero, who coaches Carlos Alcaraz, is likening his young protégé to the greats of the game – Roger, Rafa, and Novak. The former world No.1, is set to return to the tennis court after missing out for four months due to injury. He is going to play in the Argentina Open in a few days and it will be the Spaniard’s season debut.
The 19-year-old missed out on the Australian Open last month and lost his world No.1 to Novak Djokovic. However, he is recovered completely and is eager to start this season after having a sensational 2022. On this occasion, his coach Juan spoke in an interview and talked about his preparation and targets for the ongoing season as the teenager targets another big year.
Speaking in the interview in Buenos Aires, Juan said “Well obviously to be world number one you have to have a lot of good things, and the comparisons are always there. For us, being compared to these players, a bit of each of them, are magic words.”
He further picked the best shot from each of the Big Three and said “Mentally, Carlos is a good player who is progressing in this aspect, competitively he is very good, in terms of shots he has Djokovic’s aggressiveness, Federer’s approach to the net and mentally, obviously, he impregnates Rafa. If I had to compare Carlos with the other three, that’s what I would say.”

Carlos Alcaraz rates the Big 3 very and high and showered praises on them. On the eve of his season debut in Argentina Open, he talked about Roger, Rafa, and Nole and said he admires them a lot. The 19-year-old played a couple of times against Rafa and Nole and knows what it takes to defeat them. He also mentioned that defeating them is almost impossible.
Carlos coming from Spain where Rafael Nadal is an idol said “In Spain Rafael Nadal is an idol for practically everyone who follows tennis and also the sport. Since I was a child, when I liked tennis and played it, I was inspired by it.” He also compared Roger Federer to Messi and said both play their sport elegantly.
