Judy Murray extends support to WTA player Tara Moore on her GoFundMe to compensate legal expenses fighting doping suspension days after Simona Halep case makes groundbreaking verdict
Even if Moore successfully gets her active player status reinstated, it will be a long time for her to regain her rankings.

A few weeks after Simona Halep received a reduced suspension for doping, fellow tennis player Tara Moore is seeking a GoFundMe for legal expenses for her doping case. Judy Murray, a staunch supporter of the British player, showed her support to this as well on social media.
Last month, Simona Halep received a reduced nine-month suspension by the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS) after receiving a four-year ban earlier by ITIA. The International Tennis Integrity Agency’s four-year suspension came after the Romanian was found guilty of taking a banned substance roxadustat during the 2022 US Open. However, a year and a half later, Halep was handed a wildcard by the Miami Open officials.

In similar case, Tara Moore, a British doubles player has been away for more than twenty months from tennis. The Briton was banned in May 2022 after testing positive for a banned substance nandrolone and boldenone while competing in WTA 250 Bogota, Colombia.
Unexpectedly, an independent tribunal ruled 19 months later, that Moore had no fault or negligence but that the positive test came as a result of eating a lump of contaminated meat.
But the tribunal ruling couldn’t make her return to tennis. She must have to appeal the case to the Court of Arbitration for Sports (CAS). In a bid to see to that, the British star has been yearning for support in the last three days. On her X (formerly known as Twitter) account, Moore posted a GoFundMe for legal expenses in her bid to return to the tour and major tournament.
Judy Murray retweeted the tweet, supporting her to raise funds for her legal payment.

The tribunal ruling would be used as a strong defense for Moore’s case when she heads to CAS.
It will take more than two years for Tara Moore to recover ranking
While Moore supporters want to see the player get active as soon as possible, Darren Cahill, the Australian tennis coach, highlighted that it wont be all merry for the player even after her status gets reinstated. Cahill claimed that it will take 18 to 24 months for Tara Moore to recover her rankings. The British player, who achieved a career-high of No.145 in singles and 77 in doubles doesn’t have a ranking now.

This timeline is so bad. It’ll take Tara 18-24 months to recover her rankings if everything goes perfectly. Tennis is a unique sport where we are wiped out & back to zero after 12 months. The @WTA should reinstate her rankings or at the very least provide provisional rankings.Cahill wrote on X last December
Moore has gone through more than 19 months of emotional distress and damaged reputation. But she will have to wait for few more months before CAS will be able to give her case a ruling.
