Czech tenth seed Karolina Muchova threw some light on the tennis difficulties as she talked about how tough it is to be in a Grand Slam semi-final following her fourth-round win over unseeded Chinese player Wang Xinyu in the US Open 2023. In a tricky match, she overcame the Chinese power in three sets. The final score of the tight encounter was 6-3, 5-7, 6-1.

With a quarter-final match scheduled with Romanian 30th seed Sorana Cirstea, Muchova was asked about her chances in the upcoming rounds. The exasperated Czech player said, “I wouldn’t say easily do again. It was pretty pretty tough. And it is tough I know. I’ll try and fight for every match. You never know, it can happen again for sure.

Muchova has a history of playing in a Grand Slam final before. It was in the French Open 2023 where she lost to the Polish World No.1 Iga Swiatek. In the US Open, her best-ever record is this year’s run. If she can crack the Romanian code in the last eight match scheduled in two days, it will be the first semi-final for the World No.10 player on American soil.

Muchova will go on to fight against the Romanian World No.30 Sorana Cirstea as the top favorite. Based on the rankings and the current form, the Czech French Open finalist is expected to make it to the semi-finals where she is expected to meet the Polish World No.1 Iga Swiatek according to the current projected draw.

Muchova’s best hard court Slam is at the Australian Open. She has the record of playing a semi-final there. It was in 2021. With the quarter final appearance in the US Open, the Czech star has now the achievement of playing quarter finals in each of the four Grand Slam tournaments. In Wimbledon, she has played two quarter finals. Those were in 2019 and 2021.

Muchova leads the head to head against Cirstea 3-1. These two will be meeting this year for the fourth time now. During the other three matches this year between them, Muchova was able to win two of those.
