The No.1 British player, Katie Boulter recently in discussion with the Telegraph, expressed her opinion of having more female coaches on the Tour. Currently, in both the men’s and women’s categories of the game, almost all the players have male coaches and their team also consists of males.
Katie Boulter believes that having a female coach can make a big difference in your game. She had a male coach during most of her early tennis years, but now she has Biljana Veselinovic as her coach.
She further added:
It’s really nice to see women out there coaching. It’s something that I’m a huge advocate for. It really does make a difference, sometimes I think they understand you a little bit better & can help you in different ways.
The Brit further urges more women coaches to come out as she sees it as an upliftment of tennis overall. Both in men’s as well as women’s categories.
Katie Boulter herself has had a better experience with a female coach
Speaking to the Telegraph, Katie Boulter urged the need for more women coaches in tennis, claiming that it will have a positive impact on the players. She herself has been coached by her mother and her current coach is Biljana Veselinovic, who is one of the few female coaches present in the game.

Highlighting the benefits of having a female coach based on her personal experiences Katie notes that Biljana, her coach, provides a distinct perspective. Biljana’s coaching style, characterized by a nurturing and strong demeanor, differs from what Boulter has encountered before- when she was being coached by a male. This variance may stem from Biljana’s gender or her unique coaching approach.
Katie Boulter further said that Veselinovic provides a unique perspective and acts like a motherly figure for her. Even offering comfort during tough times while being a strong woman. This change has been a positive for Katie altogether.
