Khabib Nurmagomedov’s trainer reveals the lies he told Novak Djokovic during their recent meeting

Khabib Nurmagomedov, the famed former MMA fighter, recently met with the 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic in Dubai. The Serbian was there as a part of his off-season training where he is seen preparing for the upcoming 2024 season.
The reigning US Open champion recently visited the NAS Sports Complex in Dubai with his team and coach, Goran Ivanisevic. There, the duo met Khabib Nurmagomedov and his coach, Javier Mendez, who were also training in the same facility.
The Mexican coach also admitted to lying to the tennis World No.1 while having a conversation with the Serbian legend. The former coach of the UFC lightweight champion stated,
I'm talking about how many UFC champions I trained and I actually lied. I haven't trained 20 UFC champions. But Novak listened to me so carefully, so I tried to impress him. Coaches sometimes lie.Javier Mendez via Kurir
Nurmagomedov retired from the sport in 2021 and has had an exceptional career, retiring undefeated. He registered a total of 29 wins with zero losses in his career apart from creating an all-time defense record in the UFC lightweight category.
His former coach jokingly admitted to lying to Nole while talking about his achievements and casually created tales of coaching more champions than he did to boast and look good in front of the 24-time Grand Slam champion as he listened intently to the Mexican.
A look at Novak Djokovic’s 2023 season
The 7 time Wimbledon champion has had the best season of his career this year. The Serbian played in all four finals of the Grand Slam tournaments this year, winning three out of them. He also finished the year at the top of the rankings for the eighth time in his career.
Novak Djokovic looked absolutely unstoppable this year as he also clinched the Paris Masters and a record breaking 7th ATP Finals title in Turin.
The Serbian has shown no signs of slowing down as he is still hungry for titles and Grand Slam titles. Talking about his retirement, the World No.1 stated that he would only think about it once the younger generation of players start giving him a hard time on the tennis court. It will be interesting to see how he maintains his dominating performance in the upcoming 2024 season.
