“He never panicked” Mouratoglou impressed by Djokovic’s mental toughness
Patrick Mouratoglou, founder of the Mouratoglou tennis academies, former coach to Serena Williams and Stefanos Tsitsipas recently reacted to this year’s Wimbledon final between Novak Djokovic and Nick Kyrgios.
Reacting to Djokovic’s attitude on court, he said, “It was two games in one. I’m sure that experience played a big role, it never panicked. He began to be led in many games and kept his composure. His refusal to lose is, if not the best in the world, one of the best with Rafael Nadal.”
He also commented on the Serbian’s tactical understanding of the game, “The ability to return matches, to find solutions. The stakes were too important to be so solid. His tactical knowledge was important in the final. He knew exactly what to do, and it took him a set to understand it.”
