Denis Shapovalov seeded fourth in the tournament, defeated Jenson Brooksby of the United States in straight sets 7-5, 6-4 to reach the finals. He had an excellent start to the tournament where he didn’t drop a single set on the way to the finals after facing a third-round loss at the US Open against Andrey Rublev in a five-setter game that lasted almost four hours of play.
He had some great performances this year when he defeated the 22-time Grand Slam singles champion, Rafael Nadal, in the Round of 16. He will be looking for his second ATP title after a gap of almost three years since his last ATP title win came at the Stockholm Open in 2019.
Yoshihito Nishioka defeated Aleksandar Kovacevic of the United States to reach the finals of the ATP events for the fourth time in the year. He defeated the World number 2 and US Open finalist Casper Ruud in the quarter-finals of the Korea Open which has been one of his remarkable performances of the year and was his second Top 5 win of his career. He had even reached the finals of the Citi Open where had been defeated by Nick Kyrgios in straight sets.
Nishioka is even looking for his second ATP title and will be looking to end his dry run for a title for four years as his last win came at the Shenzhen Open in 2018.

Shapovalov has had spectacular performances this season with his single-handed backhand shots being a left-handed player and he has been quite confident in his play to win the title as he hasn’t lost a single set. But on the other hand, Nishioka has been already in three finals this season and would be quite confident after defeating Ruud. He had some good performances in the hard-court season.
It will be their second face-off in the careers with their head-to-head stands at 1-0 with Nishioka winning the previous outing in 2018.
