Novak Djokovic’s celebration after winning the 2023 Cincinnati Open will be remembered for ages. It is not that he has not ripped his t-shirt after winning a match before, but the kind of passion he showed after defeating World No. 1 Carlos Alcaraz was totally uncanny. It showed how much the win actually meant to him.
The Serb won the final over the Spaniard 5-7, 7-6(7), and 7-6(4) after an unforgettable battle that went on for three hours and 48 minutes. After the win, Novak fell flat on the court, cherishing the win, and ripped his t-shirt apart after standing up while also letting out a monstrous scream. Although it will be unjust to say that he has completed his revenge over Alcaraz for the 2023 Wimbledon final loss, this was a much-needed victory for the 36-year-old, as it will give him a much-needed boost ahead of the upcoming US Open.
Hilariously enough, Djokovic’s prime sponsor, Lacoste, made a goofy comment on him ripping off his shirt through their official X (formerly known as Twitter) account. “Poor polo. But it’s worth the heartbreak,” they wrote.
Djokovic will travel to Queens, where the US Open will start on August 28th. The Serb is by far one of the absolute favorites to win the Grand Slam this year. If he does so, it will be the record 24th Grand Slam of his career.

Besides earning $172,281,484 in tournament wins over the years, Novak Djokovic has earned a great deal in sponsorship. The Serb has a total net worth of nearly $250 million as of 2023.
French clothing brand Lacoste came into contact with Novak Djokovic in 2017. They penned down a deal with him until 2023 that gave him US $9.4 million each year until 2022. Later, they extended the deal until 2025. They also appointed him as their brand ambassador.
All the shirts that Djokovic wears in tournaments have a Lacoste logo combined with the Serb’s personalized logo. However, the Serb has several other sponsors as well, like Hublot, Asics, Head, Raiffeisen Bank, and Waterdrop.
