After the conclusion of the 2022 Hamburg Open where 20-year-old Italian youngster Lorenzo Musetti came out on top in the finals of the tournament as he beat 19-year-old Spanish sensation, Carlos Alcaraz by 6-4, 6-7 (6/8), 6-4 to win the title. The rankings changed as usual after the tournament and there have been changes that made history.
Musetti denied Alcaraz his perfect record in finals yesterday as beat the Spaniard in the finals to win the tournament, the victory saw Musetti win his first ever ATP title and that title saw him shoot up 31 spots in the ATP rankings as the Italian now sits at rank 31 comfortably. Musetti got a hard-fought victory in the final as Alcaraz was not making life easy for him throughout the match.

The most notable change in the ATP rankings after the conclusion of this year’s Hamburg Open is Carlos Alcaraz’s entry into the top 5 of the rankings as he now sits at number 5 in the world and he became the youngest player to break into the top 5 rankings since his compatriot Rafael Nadal did so back in 2005 while just being 18 years old. Alcaraz who is still 9 months away from turning 20 has made history by being ranked this high.
Starting his 10th week on the top of the rankings, Daniil Medvedev still sits comfortably at the number 1 position in the world even after missing this year’s Wimbledon due to the ban on Russian and Belarusian players, the Russian is followed by Alexander Zverev at number 2, Rafael Nadal at number 3.
Stefanos Tsitsipas at number 4 and of course Carlos Alcaraz at number 5 as Casper Ruud dropped down to number 6. The rest of the top 10 is unchanged as Novak Djokovic still sits at number 7 with Andrey Rublev at number 8, Felix Auger-Aliassime at number 9, and Jannik Sinner at number 10.
