Swiss maestro Roger Federer is all set in London to play the last professional match of his career at the Laver Cup. He will play doubles with his greatest friend and rival- Rafael Nadal on Friday night in what will be the last match of his illustrious career. The 2022 Laver Cup, which will feature the Big 4 altogether for the first time, will commence on Friday and as per ritual, a humorous gala was hosted on Thursday night.
Ahead of the gala, Federer was seen playing Table Tennis with Diego Schwartzman. Federer has a good hand in ping-pong and was seen trying it out publicly after a long time. He was seen enjoying his time with Schwartzman and engaged in a long rally. The two made fake grunting noises and were thoroughly enjoying themselves playing Table Tennis in their suits. “just a quick warmup before the gala,” Federer wrote on Twitter and shared a video of him playing Table Tennis.
Federer took to social media a few days ago to announce his retirement. The decision came as a shock to many because after the Laver Cup, Federer was scheduled to play the Swiss Indoors in Basel next month.
He decided against it because his recovery didn’t go according to plan and he realized that he won’t be able to play at the highest level ever again due to his knee. He underwent knee surgery last year after Wimbledon but his surgery didn’t go according to plan after which he decided to take the tough call.

Tennis fans were very happy to see Federer trying his hand at Table Tennis. They even urged him to shift professionally to Table Tennis after retiring from Tennis.
