Lesia Tsurenko‘s coach Nikita Vlasov launched another attack on Russian and Belarusian players amidst the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war. Vlasov condemned these players by calling them non-humans and also pointed out that even though Russia’s Daria Kasatkina was brave enough to emerge as a lesbian, even she couldn’t talk against Russian President Vladimir Putin and the army.

Vlasov uttered these words during an interview on the YouTube channel Peregovorka. In that, she even launched a scathing attack on WTA CEO Steve Simon for his alleged comment on the Russia-Ukraine war, which led to Tsurenko’s panic attack and withdrawal from the 2023 Indian Wells match against 2nd-seed and Belarusian Aryna Sabalenka.

All RUS and BLR players are non-humans. All of them. They are biomass that lacks any humanity. “Kasatkina was brave enough to come out as lesbian but not brave enough to [condemn Putin and RUS army]. Steve Simon is an “incentivized idiot,” a Twitter user Oleg S. quoted Vlasov.

As already mentioned, Ukrainian coach Nikita Vlasov blamed Steve Simon for his alleged comment on the Russia-Ukraine war. She revealed that Simon’s comment left Tsurenko in tears in the locker room. As per the coach, the Ukrainian player was preparing for her match against Aryna Sabalenka all day with a psychologist.

She also accused Veronika Kudermetova’s coach of calling Vladimir Putin handsome and that all of Europe should kneel before him. Following that, he alleged World No.1 Novak Djokovic for supporting Russia because the Serb’s father, Srjdan Djokovic, was seen uttering “Glory to Russia!” in a video. Nikita slammed Djokovic, saying he did not have enough courage to say directly that he doesn’t support his father’s behavior. “Maybe it’s time to use your status to stop all this, to call for peace? No, they support Russia,” Vlasov told Tribuna.

Talking about Lesia Tsurenko’s French Open campaign, after her third-round loss to Iga Swiatek in the Italian Open, Lesia Tsurenko arrived at the French Open with a straight sets win over Barbora Krejcikova. The Ukrainian then went past Lauren Davis and Bianca Andreescu before retiring from the match fourth-round match against top seed Iga Swiatek.
